Beast Under Your Bed, Vol 2 and on to be curated by our teen acquisitions editor, Maryjane Hill, is a YA Horror Anthology series made by teens for teens. Remember when you were younger, and you couldn't wait to snag the next copy of Goosebumps, Fear Street, or read another Christopher Pike book? Growing through horror from elementary school to high school. Remember when Gremlins came out, and it was the scariest thing next to the adult "Critters" movie? Or when Tim Burton graced us with the first children's bizarro movie? Those memories are slowly becoming just that...memories. It's time our youth are given another chance to read as we did. "The Beast Under Your Bed" specializes in child and teenage horror. Up to the pre-teen age for content and up to high school age for reading comprehension, the stories should be filled with enough horror to frighten them, but with an ending to keep them coming back for more.
Beast Under Your Bed Vol. 1 consists of 19 different authors in horror who came together to bring our youth newly inspired stories. Kids of horror grow up to be adults of horror, and this genre has been lacking in the YA field when it comes to the series we were familiarized with in the 90s and early 2000s.
In this anthology, our curator, Megan Guilliams, has presented to you tales perfect for both teens and adults. Every piece carries a theme of its own: the monster in your closet isn't what it seems, a storm rolls through that isn't refreshing at all, a phone slowly ticking to death without a charging cord, a wolf who acts dumb but is smarter than your own good, a good ole sailor ghost story, and many others.
