The Beast Under Your Bed: YA Horror

Remember when you were younger, and you couldn't wait to snag the next copy of Goosebumps, Fear Street, or read another Christopher Pike book? Growing through horror from elementary school to high school. Remember when Gremlins came out and it was the scariest thing next to the adult "Critters" movie? Or when Tim Burton graced us with the first children's bizarro movie? Those memories are slowly becoming just that...memories. It's time our youth are given another chance to read like we did. "The Beast Under your Bed" specializes in child and teenage horror. Up to the pre-teen age for content and up to high school age for reading comprehension, the stories should be filled with enough horror to frighten them, but with an ending to keep them coming back for more. PG writing is a requirement! No cursing or dropping F-bombs. Stories need to be clean of adult content (these will literally be marketed to young kids to high schoolers.) Send in your best creepy, monsters in your closest, vampires outside your window, and Monster land under your bed (Remember the movie with Fred Savage Little Monsters? Epic movie and perfect to show the fear but courage that children and teens have to face their fears.) Get creative. No graphic gore, no extreme horror. But horror is necessary.

3k-10k word count. Make sure your submission has your name in the document. Please include anthology title, your name, and title for the saved document.

Open for submissions: White Trash Beautiful: An Anthology of Short Stories, Poetry, and Art

Dark Moon Rising Publications is now accepting submissions for a compilation of dark poetry, short stories, and art

Dark poetry is a broad spectrum for a poet. It can be the screaming of the silent mind or the aching of a broken heart. It can be the monsters that crawl from the depths of one's soul or the monsters that crawl from the darkest pit.

We are looking for poems and stories or even artwork that shows the beauty in all things deemed imperfect, dark, and unbeautiful. Beauty does exist in the minds and souls of those that feel lost, trapped, or free floating in their own darkness. Let your screams be heard so that all know that even though it is inky black in there, there is some light that shines momentarily allowing you to share your pain, your triumphs, and your words locked deeply away.

Up to 3 poems per submission (quota met)/ 1 short story per submission/ 3 artwork submissions

No line requirement for poetry/ 3k to 10k for short stories
Word document file for submissions unless artwork is being submitted. Please make sure the title of your piece and your name are what the document is titled as well as put it in your email submission

At this time, this is for exposure only and no royalties to be paid for submissions.

Please send submissions to submissions@DarkMoonRisingPublications.com with White Trash Beautiful submission as subject line.
